Why a NEW Christian radio station in this area?
Why not? Currently, seven Christian stations broadcast into this coverage area, four of which are similar to the music format of Shine FM. Then why would this area need another station? As one person put it, “This area is a dead zone because none of these four stations offer a consistent signal into this area.” Our coverage area will fill the dead zone perfectly with a consistent signal. Who will own the radio station?
Shine FM is owned by Soaring Eagle Promotions (SEP), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. The board of directors for SEP will oversee the operation of the station.
Is the station affiliated with a particular church, denomination, or group?
No. The station will operate independent from any church, denomination or group.
What mechanisms are in place for financial accountability?
Part of the responsibility of the board of directors is to oversee the financials of the station. Station management will be accountable to the board for this area. In addition, the company is looking into becoming a member of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability (ECFA).
When will the station be on the air?
We will begin broadcasting in early 2012 on our 88.9 FM signal in Zanesfield, and by May 2012 on our 88.5 FM signal in Kenton.
What kind of programming will there be?
The majority of the broadcast day will consist of contemporary Christian music artists such as Jeremy Camp, Chris Tomlin, Third Day, Casting Crowns, TobyMac, MercyMe, Natalie Grant, Tenth Avenue North, BarlowGirl, Brandon Heath, Matthew West, Francesca Battistelli, Lincoln Brewster, Laura Story, Kutless and many more! Other specialty programs are being considered for the weekends.
Where will the station be located?
Our office and studios will be located on the second floor at 118 1/2 Court Ave in Downtown Bellefontaine above Sweet Aroma’s Coffee. This is the old Solid Rock Youth Ministry building.
