88.9 FM Now on the Air!

Shine FM officially launched our 88.9 FM signal on Thursday, May 10 around 1:20 pm from our studios in Bellefontaine. After a prayer was given by Bart Zirkle, Shine FM played our first song…He Is by Aaron Jeffrey. This song takes you through the Bible by giving each book’s description of Jesus. Since Shine FM is dedicated to honoring Jesus, it seemed fitting to use this song to share what He (Jesus) Is and can be in each of our lives. He IS was followed by Our God by Chris Tomlin.

We look forward to launching our 88.5 FM station in Kenton sometime before the end of May. We will simulcast the same format on each station. “Two Signals, One Station.”

June 8 Launch Celebration

Shine FM is excited to have Royal Tailor coming to Bellefontaine to be a part of our station’s launch celebration on Friday, June 8. The evening will begin at 7 pm at The Holland Theater with a concert featuring Royal Tailor. They are a new, and up and coming band currently finishing up a spring tour with Casting Crowns. Their first two radio hits are “Hold Me Together” and “Make a Move.” See the videos below. Dance Fuzion from Bellefontaine will begin the celebration with a few routines, followed by Royal Tailor. Admission per person is $5.00 and a can of food. The food is being donated to a local food pantry.

After the concert, the celebration continues just down the road at TP Lanes for a night of bowling. Games for the night are “Buy One, Get One Free.” Shine FM music will fill the lanes as you bowl.

Worshipful Atmosphere Fills The Holland

A crowd of around 400 people turned out this past Saturday at The Holland for the return of Bethany Dillon to her hometown of Bellefontaine. The concert also featured Shane & Shane and new artist Andy Cherry. Cherry opened the show featuring songs from his new project “Nothing Left to Fear.” He closed his set with his first radio hit “Our God’s Alive.” Bethany took the stage for a 30 minute set that featured new songs from her recently released EP. Shane & Shane closed the night with a worshipful set that helped those in attendance focus on our creator. The night continued across the street with an after party at Sweet Aromas Coffee as Andy Cherry played more music for the coffee shop crowd.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the concert.

Kevin Malarkey Speaker at May 3 Event

Kevin Malarkey, co-author of the New York Times Best Seller “The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven,” is the speaker at this year’s National Day of Prayer Event in Kenton. The event will take place on Thursday, May 3 at 7 pm at Kenton High School. Members from the Kenton City School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be providing special music. The National Day of Prayer is the first Thursday in May each year. Shine FM is proud to be a partner in this event.

The Launch is Coming Very Soon

Shine FM is finishing our final steps of preparation to begin broadcasting on our 88.9 FM signal based in Logan County. Many projects have been accomplished over the past two months. We finalized our tower agreement, received our zoning permit, ordered and received equipment, painted the office, and carpeted and sound proofed the studio. The office carpet will be installed within the next week.

We are in the process of finishing the install and wiring of the studio, along with the scheduling of the installation of the antenna and equipment at the tower site. The mild winter is definitely a plus for the outside work being done at the tower. Once the tower site work is complete, we can test the signal and file the proper paperwork with the FCC. Once the paperwork is filed, we will announce our launch date.

Once 88.9 FM is on the air, our focus will turn to get our 88.5 FM signal in Kenton on the air by May.

Bethany Dillon Returning for Concert

Bellefontaine native Bethany Dillon is returning to her hometown this spring to perform a concert at The Holland Theatre in Downtown. Shine FM and The Holland are excited to welcome Shane & Shane, Bethany, and new artist Andy Cherry in concert for one night only on Saturday, May 5 at 7:00 pm. Click here for more information.

Tower Update

In April 2011, we received approval from the FCC for our tower site. Once approved, I thought we would be on the air by summer. However, in May I was presented with the opportunity to get a tower site donated to the station. This looked to be a blessing from the Lord. After working most of the summer to finalize this donation, I found out in late August that this opportunity was not going to work out.

I have returned to our plan for the original tower. I am in the process of finalizing agreements, zoning, equipment needs, etc. to begin installation in the weeks to come. At the same time, our offices and studios on Court Street in Downtown Bellefontaine are being prepared with fresh paint, carpet, and some new walls.

As we head down the home stretch to get Shine FM on the air this fall, I am reminded that God’s timing is impeccable. He’s never too early and never too late. He has always been working behind the scenes to put Shine FM on the air at the perfect time. In Romans 11, it says “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God…For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.”

Reality 2011…An Amazing Night

Reality 2011 filled the Bellefontaine High School Auditorium on Sunday, September 18 with a sellout crowd of 900+ for an amazing night of worship, music, and ministry. The event kicked off with Nine Lashes, followed by Reality founder Bart Zirkle sharing a miraculous story about his niece Courtney. The evening continued with praise and worship from Tree by Streams from Kenton. Kevin Malarkey, co-author of “The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven,” shared his story and testimony, along with a reminder of Jesus’ words in Matthew 11, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” After a short intermission, Kutless closed out the event with songs from their latest project “It is Well,” as well as other fan favorites. Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered to make Reality 2011 a great event. Plans are already in motion for Reality 2012.
